Happy New Year!

Posted by Andi on January 7th, 2008

In Spain, New Year’s Eve (or nochevieja, “the old night”) is celebrated by eating twelve grapes as the clock strikes midnight. (It’s probably more fun with a clock that chimes on the hour — eating twelve grapes before the chimes stop is a pretty daring feat!) However you celebrated the new year, here’s wishing you a 2008 filled with lots of daring adventures!

(For more on Spanish daring girl customs, check out page 15: “Spanish Terms of Endearment, Idioms, and Other Items of Note” — or, better yet, pick up a copy of the Spanish edition, “El Libro Aventurado para las Chicas“!)
